Easter Bunny Cookie Recipe

These adorable cookies are so easy to make for Easter! The kids will have fun decorating these using marshmallows and candies. We have made our share of bunny butt treats and the kids always get a big kick out of them! This is also such a cute idea for a class Easter party at school that the kids will absolutely LOVE! You will love knocking out a ton of these in just minutes…so easy!

Key Ingredients You’ll Need

Sugar Cookies: You can use a store-bought or make your own homemade recipe.

Frosting: You can use homemade frosting or store-bought. I prefer using homemade because you can control how sweet it is.

Decorating Ingredients: You will need marshmallows, pearl candies in spring colors, colored heart candies, and food coloring to decorate the cookies in your desired colors.

How To Make Bunny Butt Cookies

Step 1. Follow the instructions on the cookie package to bake and allow them to cool thoroughly while you prepare the frosting. Separate the frosting into 4 small bowls and add in the food coloring you desire and mix to combine. Add the frosting on top of each baked cookie and spread evenly.

Step 2. Slice a marshmallow in two and arrange both marshmallows at the base of the cookie for the feet. Using the pearl and heart candies, attach them to the top of the two marshmallows with frosting. Use a mini marshmallow to make the tail and press it into the center of the cookie.

What Colors Look The Best On Bunny Butt Cookies?

Spring is all about those light pastel colors! These colors tend to be very light and can include colors like light pink, light purple, light blue, light yellow, etc. You can make them all the same color or mix them for more variety.

Here are a few examples of different colors you can try:

Tips & Tricks

  • I of course love using pastel colors, but you can decide to just keep them white.
  • If you want these cookies to look fuzzy, you can dip the frosting in sanding sugar. If you decide to use colors, you can use sanding sugar that is the same color as the frosting. For example, yellow frosting with yellow sanding sugar.
  • Add vanilla, marshmallow, lemon, etc. extract to flavor the frosting.
  • Place leftover cookies in an airtight container for the best storage method.
  • You can leave these at room temperature or store in the fridge to last longer.
