How To Make a Peppermint Patty Penguin

  • Cut a penguin shape out of our peppermint patty with a knife…almost like a heart shape.
  • Attach a thin red ribbon on the top of the lollipop stick and wrapped it around the stick to look like a candy cane. We pushed the patty onto the stick.
  • Put 1 Starburst in the microwave on high for 8 seconds. Just roll it out with a rolling pin or press with your fingers.
  • Cut out the beak and feet with a knife. Just press the beak and feet in the white cut out part of the patty.
  • Press the edible eyes on and that is it! Everything will stick perfectly!

How To Make Penguin Pops

  • Carve out the front of the peppermint patty into a heart shape using a knife. Try to keep the chocolate in large pieces.
  • Cut out little hearts for wings using kitchen scissors.
  • Just press the little heart wings on the sides. If they do not stick you can use a little bit of icing.
  • Attach on the heart candies using the icing for the feet.
  • You can press on the edible eyes and heart beak without using icing and they will stick.
  • Make a hole in the bottom of the patty using a knife and press in a lollipop stick.
  • Put your sticks in decorate straws.

  1. What a great idea, I have been looking for cute penguin themed food. The GS Cookie theme animal for 2012 is a penguin and to kick off our cookie sale, I am going to make these for my scouts or maybe let them make them at our Jan campout. We alway camp just before the sale starts, we earn the cookie badges and do activities to prepare to have the best cookie sale. Plus the penguin goes with a winter camp theme too! Thanks for the idea!

  2. Oh no! We did not have this problem. We just cut the top off with a knife very carefully. If you already bought everything and it's not working for you maybe you could just add white frosting on the top. That would look good!

  3. I am almost crying right now trying to do these with my daughter and son for their classes tomorrow. When I cut the chocolate, it just breaks into tiny pieces and when I try to scoop it out, it's just mushing into the white stuff and making a tan, mushy, bumpy face for the penguin. I'm stopping while I'm ahead and going on to my other treats with more realistic goals.
