Christmas Red Velvet Loaf

This red velvet loaf with a delicious cream cheese frosting is so good! It’s super easy to make and is covered with chocolate and crushed candy canes. This is our new favorite Christmas breakfast treat.

Red Velvet Loaf

Makes 1 loaf

Ingredients

  • 1 box red velvet cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 C canola oil
  • 1 1/2 C mashed bananas

Frosting Ingredients

  • 1 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3 C powder sugar
  • 3 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 piping bag with a star tip
  • 1 C chocolate shavings
  • 1/2 C crushed candy canes

Red Velvet Loaf

Loaf Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Grease a 8 inch loaf pan and set aside
  3. In a standing mixer, combine the dry cake mix, oil, eggs, and mashed bananas
  4. Pour into the loaf pan and bake for 40 minutes
  5. Place onto a wire rack and let cool to room temperature

Frosting Directions

  1. Using a standing mixer, combine all ingredients and mix on medium speed until combined and stiff peaks
  2. Scoop frosting into the piping bag
  3. Place loaf out of pan onto a cutting board
  4. Pipe the frosting all over the loaf
  5. Sprinkle with chocolate shavings and candy canes
  6. Let frosting harden for about 10 minutes before enjoying.
