Mini Apple Pies Instructions

1. Peel, core and chop the apples into small cubes.

2. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.

3. Add the apples into hot butter. Add salt and let it cook for a couple of minutes.

4. Next add the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, all spice, lemon zest and juice. Cook and stir apple mixture until apples are softened. About 5 minutes.

5. Add the water and continue cooking until apples are soft and sticky. About 1 to 2 more minutes.

6. Spread apple pie filling onto a plate to cool.

7. Preheat the oven to 375 F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or Silpat.

8. Unroll the pie dough onto a well-floured surface. Using a 3-inch circular cookie cutter, cut out 6 circles

9. Take the Mason jar lids and turn the inserts of all the lids, so that the rubber side is facing down and the shiny metal side is facing up.

10. Insert the dough circle into the lid, bring up the sides. Repeat will all the 6 lids. The dough should be touching the metal side of the insert and not the rubber side.

11. Spread each prepared pie ring with 2 teaspoon of the cooled apple pie filling.

12. Cut out dough strips from the remaining scrap dough. We need 6 strips per pie ring. Cover with each pie ring with lattice pattern.

13. Place the mini apple pie ring in the baking sheet. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with a teaspoon of Turbinado sugar.

14. Bake for 20 minutes.

15. Let it cool and unmold it from the Mason jar ring.

16. Server with a dollop of ice-cream or whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce.

More tips for Mini Apple Pies
