Whether you’re afraid of pit bulls or you love them, this story about an extraordinary pit bull named Sasha will have you falling in love with the breed.
Before I share Sasha’s story, I thought I’d first share a couple of dog-themed snacks on the blog. I figure every dog lover needs some food that’s shaped like a dog! We have doggie cupcakes, doggie candy bars, and doggie bento box meals. Enjoy!

The Pit Bull Firefighter
Sasha the pit bull was born and raised with her little human named Masailah. They took naps together and even played in the tub together from time to time.
According to ABC13, late one night Sasha woke up her owners by banging on the back door and barking loudly. She was making as much noise as she could to alert her family that a fire was blazing next door.
Her mom, Latana Chai, rushed to see what was going on. When the mom saw the flames she instinctively ran to pull her 7-month-old Masailah from her crib to get her to safety.
She was surprised to see that Sasha had already grabbed her sister by the diaper and pulled her from the crib!
That’s amazing to me. Sasha was doing everything she could possibly do to save that baby. I want to hug that dog so hard!
Thankfully, because of a little pit bull who loved her family, they were all safe. Their apartment was destroyed by the fire, which is heartbreaking. But things can be replaced, right?
Sasha the Pit Bull isn’t the only dog who has saved someone.
The internet is rich in stories about dogs who prove every day why we call them man’s best friend. I wish I could share them all. Here are two of my faves.
Toby, the Golden Retriever did the Heimlich on his owner in Calvert, Maryland. Debbie Parkhurst was choking on an apple and couldn’t get it out when she tried to do the Heimlich on herself. She was pounding on her chest when Toby flew into action.
“The next thing I know, Toby’s up on his hind feet and he’s got his front paws on my shoulders,” she told NBC News. “He pushed me to the ground, and once I was on my back, he began jumping up and down on my chest.”
The fruit came out and she was saved. She still had red paw prints from the 2-year-old Toby all over her chest.
“The doctor said I probably wouldn’t be here without Toby,” she said. “I keep looking at him and saying, ‘You’re amazing.”
Axel the rescue dog saved his elderly owner from a robber’s attack. In England, an 86-year-old woman was being attacked during an attempted robbery.
The man hit her over the head with something and demanded she hand over her jewelry. She says she was seeing stars.
“I’ve never seen him move so fast and jumps at this bloke and knocks him flat on to the floor,” the woman said.
“He [the robber] gets up but he still has my dog attached to his arm. He shook the dog off and I thought I had lost him. The dog came back with his nose covered in blood.”
She says prior to this incident everyone called Axel a gentle giant. Now, she says, they call him a hero.

I hate how these precious and amazing dogs are stereotyped because of the ones that have been abused. Human beings are the monsters, not the poor, defenseless animal that just wants to be loved, fed and played with. I have raised a couple pits, and I honestly wouldn’t want to raise any other breed. The love and loyalty these dogs give is unconditional no matter how good or bad they get treated. They’re such gentle giants and big babies at heart. They deserve the same love and loyalty they so freely and willingly give to anyone that will just love and feed them. ❤️

My story happened 11 years ago but it is news worthy.
We lived in Guam, and my husband’s friend was a pitbull breeded. We decided to get a dog from his latest litter.
So I picked one out but when I went to show him to my husband their was another one that chose him.
The runt of the litter. A fawn colored female was resting her head on my husband’s foot. So needless to say since she picked Jevon that was the one we took home.
He named her Taz, so one night I felt strange.
Taz was 5 months old when this happened.
I left the bed room went downstairs feeling hot I started to take a cool shower. The ne t thing I know I feel Taz licking my face very fast. This was when I knew something was wrong. Not only was I passed out and on the floor I had lost all control of my body. There was vomit and the pain in my arm and chest were nothing I had ever felt. I had enough strength to scream my husband’s name 1 time. In and out of consciousness I was very confused. My husband came down to me and right away called 911. When the ambulance arrived my blood pressure was 41/80. My heart was stopping. Since I was unconscious most of the time they were not sure if I would make it. They placed my with my head lower then the rest of my body so the blood would continue to pump to my brain. If Taz hadn’t been licking my face so frantically I believe I never would have been able to call Jevon and I would have died. She was my life line. Now she is 11 and I thank her every day. Taz saved my life without a doubt.
