The name of this recipe, Salted Caramel Apple Butter, tells you everything you need to know about it. This will be your new fave.

As far as I’m concerned, you can’t have too many recipes that have apples as the main ingredient. Not kidding. If you gave me 10 bushels of apples, I’d find a way to use every single one. (Except the ones with worm holes!)

I’d definitely make Snickers Apple Salad. Have you tried it? If not, you must. It’s easy and such a good, quick recipe for a get-together. For sure Mason Jar Lid Mini Apple Pies is another. They’re so cute, it’s almost ridiculous!

Salted Caramel Apple Butter

I’m always surprised at how many people have never tried apple butter. Have you? If not, you don’t know what you’re missing.

Think of it as applesauce that’s thick and rich and smooth and super flavorful.

We use regular apple butter on toast and biscuits. But this particular recipe? I have to say that Salted Caramel Apple Butter kicks it up a notch. Maybe 10 notches, now that I think of it.

Serving Salted Caramel Apple Butter

The next time you’re planning any sort of dessert bar, a few pretty glass containers of this stuff and you open up a whole new way to think about dessert.

I suggest chunks of plain pound cake to spread it on. You might even want to toast some.

You should also try some plain scones, and what about some churros? Oh my gosh, y’all. Doesn’t that sound amazing?

This is also great to put in Jars for gifts. We used 4 oz glass jars with lids.

The caramel sauce is everything.

Wait until you taste this! Warm, homemade caramel sauce is (in my opinion) the twist in this recipe that makes it exceptionally good.

Made with maple syrup, brown sugar, and unsalted butter, it makes these little pots of apple gold good to the last spoonful.

Notes…

I am sure this apple butter can easily be preserved and canned using the hot water bath method, though I have no tried this yet myself.

      1. I want to try this but was reading the ingredients…. the amounts on the caramel portion just dont seem right to me… only a little over 4 tbsp (tablespoons) of ingredients? Help please!

Made this for xmas gifts. It was very tasty. I used my electric pressure cooker for 35 minutes, but it was still too thin, I just simmered for a while until it thickened. Very delicious! Thanks for posting!

Also, side note to those of you who might be worried about canning this due to the dairy, I used Country Crock plant based butter and plant heavy cream. Both of those are by Country Crock and they’re absolutely delicious.

      3. Thank you for posting this recipe. It looks GREAT! I can’t believe the number of comments below asking questions that you answered in your recipe/procedure! Don’t people know how to read anymore!!??

      4. This was really good, although I did add a small amount of brown sugar because I used a variety of apples that weren’t very sweet. It was hard to be patient while it cooked down, because mine took closer to 10 hours to get to the proper consistency.

      5. If you use hot jars and lids and twist the ban on tightly they will seal and pop without the hot bath.

      6. I made this and it had excellent flavor! However I never got it to thicken. It was more like applesauce. Any idea what I did wrong?

This recipe is easy and fabulous! Really tasty, will be freezing some of mine and then defrost and put into small Kilmer jars for gifts for Christmas ! Thank you !!!

      8. This can not be processed in a water bath canner, as dairy and butter are not on the safe list.. but sounds yummy !

        1. If you’re concerned about that then just plant based heavy cream and butter.

Absolutely delicious! Only thing that I did differently was I cooked the apples in my Instant Pot pressure cooker for 20 minutes rather than using a slow cooker. I did the caramel on the stove top as directed , used my immersion blender for the apples then added the caramel!

        1. Did you still cook the apple mixture for the 6 to 8 hours after putting thru the food processor?

        2. I cooked mine in my electric pressure cooker for 35 min and then have had it on slow cook for hours now, but it’s still too thin?
