Semi-Homemade Pumpkin Angel Food Cake Recipe

Angel food is a very popular cake because it is light and airy and delicious. It never tastes weighed down like some other cakes. This pumpkin angel food cake is no different. It is so tasty and it is so easy that your family will love it.  Being made with an angel food cake mix means you don’t have to spend a ton of time in the pantry or have a bunch of ingredients on hand.

I love making this as a different but absolutely delicious pumpkin dessert during the fall pumpkin season.  If you like this, check out my recipes for this pumpkin bread cheesecake, moist pumpkin bread, or the classic pecan pumpkin pie.

Can I Turn This Into Angel Food Cupcakes?

If you want to make these into angel food cupcakes, it only takes 2 changes to the recipe. First, when you are ready to fill the pan, use cupcake tins and liners instead. The other is how long you will bake the cupcakes. When you make these, you will bake the cupcakes 15-18 minutes until they are golden brown and the top is dry.

Can I Add an Angel Food Cake Frosting?

This cake you be fantastic with frosting. Currently, I make it with a white chocolate drizzle but you could turn the melted chocolate into a ganache or just add more than a drizzle over the cake.

Ingredients

  • Canned pumpkin
  • Cinnamon
  • Pumpkin pie spice
  • Vanilla
  • Angel food cake mix
  • White chocolate
  • Whipped cream

How to Make a Pumpkin Angel Food Cake

In a bowl combine the pumpkin, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla. Stir together well. Make the angel food cake according to the box. Beat it until it is light and fluffy. Mixing a bowl of pumpkin angel food cake batter
Add 2 cups of the angel food cake to the pumpkin batter and stir to combine. Gently fold the pumpkin batter into the rest of the angel food cake.
Pour the batter into an UNGREASED bundt pan.
Bake the cake for 40-45 minutes at 350. When the cake is golden brown on top and the top springs back to touch, it is finished. If it does not spring back, give it 5 more minutes.
Remove the cake from the oven, and run a knife around the edges and middle to loosen the cake.  Invert the cake onto a cake plate, and let the cake cool before removing the pan.  After about 30 minutes, try to remove the cake from the pan. It should be easy to remove.
When the cake has cooled, melt white chocolate in the microwave, and drizzle over the cake. Top with Whipped cream and cinnamon.
