Stained Glass Cookies

What Are Stained Glass Cookies?

Stained glass cookies are cut-out sugar cookies filled with crushed hard candy. As the cookies bake, the candy melts into a thin, solid layer, giving it a "stained glass" effect in the center of the cookie!

First, cream together butter and sugar with a bit of sea salt.

Cream the Butter + Sugar

Add Eggs + Vanilla

Next, add the eggs and vanilla and mix to combine.

Add Flour

Slowly mix the flour into the wet ingredients, to form a dough.

Chill the Dough

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and place it in the fridge for 2 hours.

Roll Out the Dough

Roll the chilled cookie dough out on a lightly floured surface.

Cut Out the Cookies

Use various holiday-shaped cookie cutters to cut out the "panes" of cookie dough.

Make the Stained Glass

Add crushed Jolly Rancher candy to the center cutout of each cookie.

Bake!

Bake the cookies at 350ºF for 10-12 minutes. Let them cool.

Enjoy

Stained glass cookies are a delicious, crunchy addition to your holiday cookie plates!
