As much as we love a warm piece of freshly made banana bread, this Amish Apple Fritter Bread might be our new favorite quick bread! It’s full of sweet apples and so pretty when topped with the sweet glaze. These loaves make wonderful Christmas gifts!

- Brown sugar
- Ground cinnamon
- Butter
- Granulated sugar
- Eggs
- Vanilla extract
- All-purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Milk
- Apples
- Powdered sugar

How to Make Amish Apple Fritter Bread
- Preheat oven to 350ºF. Prepare an 8.5×4.5×2.5-inch loaf pan by greasing it with non-stick cooking spray.
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon; set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the 2/3 cup granulated sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs and vanilla, just until combined.
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture and stir until combined. Add the milk and mix until smooth.

- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread out evenly.

- In a small mixing bowl, combine the apple filling ingredients.

- Pour half of the apples over the batter in the pan.

- Spread on the remaining batter.

- Top with the remaining apples and press the apples down slightly.

- Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over top of the bread.

- Bake at 350ºF for 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for about 30 minutes. In a small bowl, combine the glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread.

How to Store Leftovers
Keep the bread wrapped in plastic or in an airtight container. It will keep in the refrigerator or on the counter for up to four days.

Loved it! Made exactly as written except I only had bread flour. I was tempted to add more milk because it seemed very thick and donut-like but I didn’t. Also found that it seemed light on batter but it all worked out. I used 2 honey crisp apples cut in smaller chunks. Gorgeous and easy!

Because of a special diet I did sub out Swerve brown, granulated and powdered for the listed sugars and the flour for almond flour. Regardless – it was fantastic following the recipe with these substitutes!

This is the best recipe for apple bread I have ever made! I chopped my apple slices up a bit smaller. Delicious, moist and even better a couple of days afterward when you slice and warm it in the microwave or toaster oven This is also great with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. I made this bread twice and was very good. I chopped the apples small so they would require less time cooking. I found that cooking at least an hour gets the bread super brown and hard, which also dries out the bread. So it would need a little bit more moisture, either by adding more milk or by adding some oil. The leftover bread I did slice off the dark edges, then I fried this like french toast, but just browning in a pan and it makes delicious tasting french toast without all the mess. I added little powdered sugar and it was awesome.
This bread is delicious! The recipe is excellent and baked up easily and perfectly. The next time I make it, I will use less sugar, but that’s the only change I would make 🙂
