Captain Underpants
Dav Pilkey is the author and illustrator of Captain Underpants as well as Dog Man. Captain Underpants is about two friends that create their own comic book based on their principal who becomes a superhero.
Dog Man was then created along the lines of Captain Underpants. It is about a half-dog and half-man that these two best friends created.
Of course, there is potty humor, jokes, and creative illustrations. Dav is now going to offer free drawing lessons and read-a-loud of these books. It will be just as amusing at his books!
Free Lessons and Readings
Dav Pilkey is planning to start these videos on April 3rd at 8 AM eastern time. He then plans to have a new video every Friday after that until further notice.
For the lessons, he plans to teach you how to create your own characters and then how to draw them. He even may act out some of his favorite scenes from his books, which will be sure to amuse everyone!
Pilkey is partnering with the Library of Congress as well as Scholastic. That means you will be able to find his videos on each of their websites and social media accounts.
Other Resources
With the coronavirus keeping kids out of school for a couple of months, the Library of Congress is closed as well. That is why they are offering free online resources during this great time of need. There are many resources to download such as how to draw demonstrations.
Eventually, they want to also have read-a-loud’s for some of their favorite books.
The Library of Congress is hoping that with these free resources it will help your kids still be creative at home and read books.
During this time of uncertainty, many parents don’t even know if their kids will be going back to school for the rest of the school year. Others have limited access to homeschooling options.
These free resources will be sure to keep your kids doing things that are educational and fun! It will help them to read more books and learn how to draw from their favorite books.
