Everyone loves doughnuts; however, it seems like every person in the house always wants a different type of doughnut. Now, Dunkin’ is selling a kit that allows you to decorate a box of doughnuts however you would like! Now the entire family will love them!
DIY Doughnut Kit
Dunkin’ just came out with a new box that is basically a DIY doughnut kit. They are testing out the idea to see what their customers like. It allows you and your kids to decorate a box of doughnuts however they would like.
The doughnut becomes personal to your kid and thus more enjoyable. Who doesn’t love to create a masterpiece and then eat it?
The doughnuts are already made, don’t worry about that. All you have to do is choose how many doughnuts you want in your DIY box. Inside the box, you will find a selection of different frostings and toppings to decorate the doughnuts with.
The Inspiration Behind it All
The inspiration behind this creative idea is Norma Valkenaar. She is an employee at a Dunkin’ in Concord, California. She asked her store manager, Matt Cobo, if she could take home some doughnuts with different toppings to her nephews. She wanted to brighten their day and help them have something fun and unique to do during their stay at home.
Matt shared in a press release, “The reality of this experience has set in, and we know it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Like most parents, we were looking for ways to entertain our kids and bring a little levity to this situation.”
Once they found out how happy these boxes have made kids, they are putting together more and more to help other kids to be happy and have fun.
Matt, along with his sister and other employees have put together a fund called the “donut dash surprise.” They leave the kits on the kid’s doorsteps and then text, “You’ve been Dunk’d!”
All over the United States, more Dunkin’ places are adopting this fun idea to help more children everywhere. You can find the DIY boxes on some of their menus.
At those Dunkin’ places that participate in this, you can order drive-thru or curbside pickup. Some locations even off delivery as well!
Matt Cobo shared, “This is our small way of trying to brighten someone’s day. The simple joy of getting to create your own donut can make kids light up, and if we can be a part of creating that moment, that makes us happy.”
