Healthy Monkey Chocolate Cookie Dough Dip with Banana Cookies!

I found this Healthy Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip recipe from a site called Hell if I Gnaw and thought I would give it a try with my boys for a dessert. I also thought it would be fun for my 1 year old as well since he usually never gets to eat sweets. I was thinking there is no way they are going to like a dessert with Oats, Dates, and Chick Peas….so I thought it would be cute to turn it into a monkey! Just another way to trick them!:) Making food look fun for them always seems to work! It turns out that I really didn’t have to even make the monkey because this recipe is SO good! If you are thinking there is no way my kids would not know they were eating dates and chickpeas…well you are wrong! I even tested this on my neighborhood kids and they loved it as well and could not tell at all what was really in it! This is how you make it!

Chocolate Chip “Cookie Dough” (Vegan)

Ingredients:

1 can chickpeas, drained
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/3 cup raw peanut butter
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (you can add more of you need to for the consistency)
3 tablespoons oats
1 and 1/4 cup pitted dates
1/3 cup vegan chocolate chips (I used Enjoy Life brand – available in most health food stores)

Preparation Instructions:
Put all ingredients except for the chocolate chips in blender

Blend until very smooth (Doing this in my blender caused the “dough” to become warm, so some of the chocolate chips melted when I added them … which was perfect).
Add chocolate chips and stir with spoon (don’t blend).

You can alter this to what you have…. like regular milk instead of almond…regular chocolate chips instead of vegan…etc…

To make the monkey..I just made a circle on the plate for his head. I used vanilla wafers for the nose and ears. I dressed up the rest of his face with chocolate chips and banana for the eyes. I cut a date for the mouth and nose. My 1 year old had some banana cookies from the baby section of the grocery store so i just placed the banana cookies around the monkey.

We used the left overs by spreading the dip in between graham crackers and freezing it. My boys begged for them! I promise this is worth a try!

Here is my happy 1 year old with his Healthy Cookie Dough Monkey Dip!

  1. WOW, Jill! You've got my attention with the fact that this was a winner with kids {with chick peas & figs…who knew?}. I can't wait to try this. And the banana cookies were the perfect choice for the monkey face! I'm featuring you at tomorrow's Mop It Up Monday {coming out later tonight}! Hope you've had a wonderful weekend!
