The name of this recipe, Salted Caramel Apple Butter, tells you everything you need to know about it. This will be your new fave.
As far as I’m concerned, you can’t have too many recipes that have apples as the main ingredient. Not kidding. If you gave me 10 bushels of apples, I’d find a way to use every single one. (Except the ones with worm holes!)
I’d definitely make Snickers Apple Salad. Have you tried it? If not, you must. It’s easy and such a good, quick recipe for a get-together. For sure Mason Jar Lid Mini Apple Pies is another. They’re so cute, it’s almost ridiculous!
Salted Caramel Apple Butter
I’m always surprised at how many people have never tried apple butter. Have you? If not, you don’t know what you’re missing.
Think of it as applesauce that’s thick and rich and smooth and super flavorful.
We use regular apple butter on toast and biscuits. But this particular recipe? I have to say that Salted Caramel Apple Butter kicks it up a notch. Maybe 10 notches, now that I think of it.
Serving Salted Caramel Apple Butter
The next time you’re planning any sort of dessert bar, a few pretty glass containers of this stuff and you open up a whole new way to think about dessert.
I suggest chunks of plain pound cake to spread it on. You might even want to toast some.
You should also try some plain scones, and what about some churros? Oh my gosh, y’all. Doesn’t that sound amazing?
This is also great to put in Jars for gifts. We used 4 oz glass jars with lids.
The caramel sauce is everything.
Wait until you taste this! Warm, homemade caramel sauce is (in my opinion) the twist in this recipe that makes it exceptionally good.
Made with maple syrup, brown sugar, and unsalted butter, it makes these little pots of apple gold good to the last spoonful.

Notes…
I am sure this apple butter can easily be preserved and canned using the hot water bath method, though I have no tried this yet myself.

Hi,
Planning to go to the orchard for apples to make this recipe. Any other apples to use other than Gala as stated in recipe.
I read the questions and answers and had several of my questions answered by reading them. The only question not seen answered is can you freeze this?
Many thanks.
Just made this. Smells great and so easy to make. Giving the jars to friends at a party on Sunday. A great way to share the “ber” month!
after it is done does it need to be refrigerated or just put on shelf?
I store mine in the fridge.
Is the caramel mixture added to reduced apple mixture right before placing in jars?
We canned apple butter all the time when I was kid. Worked beautifully.
Can this recipe be doubled & done at the same time? Also can you use salted butter & omit the salt in the recipe?
Yes, doubling would work fine and also with the butter.
I wouldn’t try canning this with the cream in it. Maybe stir it in after opening a jar
. Check with your state or county extension department. It would probably be safe, but therein is such a small amount of cream it could probably be left out without changing the flavor.
Thank mom made the best apple butter I am going to try sometime .
It’s not a good idea to can untested recipes. This recipe should be kept refrigerated or frozen.
How long will this last in the jars?
Do you process the filled jars to get a seal?
I am sure this apple butter can easily be preserved and canned using the hot water bath method, though I have no tried this yet myself.

Is this recipe okay to can, as with regular apple butter?
Yes!
Can this be safely canned rather than refrigerated? If so, what would be the processing time in a water bath?

Can this be canned and if so can you explain thank you?
COULD YOU USE AN IMMERSION BLENDER INSTEAD OF THE FOOD PROCESSOR?
I have not done this, but sure it would be fine.
Can you can this like you would apple sauce? Or does the caramel sauce make that unsafe?
Thanks

This sounds AMAZING! How many 4 oz jars will I need? If it said, I guess I missed it.
You will need 6-8 (4 ounce) jars.
I made this using pears because I have them in abundance. I reduced the apple juice to 3/4 cup because the pears were so juicy that I already had some liquid and I also used some fruit fresh. We like this “pear butter.”
I was thinking of using pears and apples I have pears in abundance also. I have made apple\pear butter it’s great so thinking I would try . I will be canning.
