We made these fun Sand Castle Cupcakes awhile ago. It might seem a little late for us to be sharing beach cupcakes, but our beach trips always happen in September. We live in Georgia so we like to go to Tybee Island, Hilton Head, and Florida beaches. It gets way too hot for me to enjoy myself at southern beaches in the summer. September is the perfect time for us..the weather and temperature are always so perfect!
These Sand Castle Cupcakes were pretty easy to make. We used what we had on hand, but there are so many ways you could make these.
Sand Castle Cupcakes
Cake Mix
Yellow Cupcake Liners
White Frosting
Yellow Food Coloring (optional)
Jumbo, Large, and Mini Marshmallows
Graham Cracker Sticks
Crushed Graham Crackers
Dried Pineapple (optional)
Starburst
Toothpicks
We started out by making our cupcakes. We tinted our white frosting with just a little bit of yellow food coloring (you could leave it white and it will look fine). We frosted our cupcakes then we dipped the cupcakes in a bowl of crushed graham crackers. We put the rest of our frosting in a bowl and microwaved it for about 8 to 10 seconds. We set up our marshmallows and other edible decorations like this….
We dipped our marshmallows in the frosting then rolled them around in the graham cracker crumbs. The tooth picks helped for dipping! We stacked them on the cupcakes. We pressed out Starburst candy using our fingers to make the flags. Then pressed on the toothpicks.
These are fun for the kids to decorate and they will love creating their own Sand Castle Cupcakes!
We spotted these Sand Castle Cupcakes that Hoosier Homemade shared a few weeks ago. We really like how she made hers and she used pretzel sticks for her flags!
