Can Cooked Cabbage Be Frozen?

Yes! You can either separate the whole batch into several smaller portions, or freeze the whole batch at once.

We use freezer zip-lock bags. Transfer cooled cooked cabbage into the bag, get the air out, and seal it tight. Label and freeze for 3-5 months.

To thaw: take frozen cabbage out of the freezer and place in the fridge to let it slow-thaw overnight.

To reheat cooked cabbage: it’s best to reheat it in a pan over the stove, over medium heat.

I didn’t add the paprika and I forgot to add the brown sugar at the end. It came out fantastic. I used a very small head of cabbage and I ate 75 % of it by myself. Just bought another small head of cabbage for my next dish.

    1. Hi Pat. The smoked paprika is added with the salt, pepper and other ingredients. I will edit the recipe card. Thank you.

Absolute perfection! I added a squirt of vinegar at the end and served it with hot bacon dressing on the side.
