We came up with this fun Turkey Cupcake Cones the other day and my boys and their friends just loved them! They are easy to make a great edible craft that the kids can help make as well! These would also be a fun Thanksgiving treat for a school class party! A great way to get rid of Halloween candy as well!
Turkey Cupcake Cones
1 Box of Chocolate Cake Mix (we like Pillsbury)
1 Can of Chocolate Frosting
Chocolate Ice Cream Cones
Assorted Starburst Candy
Pretzel Sticks
Tootsie Rolls
Edible Eyes
Pre-heat the oven to 350. Mix the cake mix according to directions on the box. Fill the chocolate cupcake cones just to the edge of where the wider opening starts. We like to bake our cupcake cones using a muffin pan. We line it with foil, poke holes in it, then place the cones in the holes. This prevents them from tipping over…
Bake for about 20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool and then frost with the chocolate frosting. We put assorted colored Starburst candy in the microwave for 5 seconds to soften and then cut them in half. Shape the pieces into feathers and press on the top of a pretzel stick. Poke them in the back side of the cupcake cone. We did the same with the tootsie roll. Shape them into the heads and press on a pretzel stick. You might want to secure them on the pretzel stick using chocolate cookie frosting (we like Betty Crocker). Cut out pieces of other Starburst candy to make the beak, wattle and feet. We just pressed ours on and they stuck, but you can also secure with cookie frosting. We pressed on edible eyes as well.
