What Are Fried Cheese Curds?

Cheese curds, also known as "squeaky cheese curds," are young cheddar pieces that haven't gone through the aging process, so they are fresh and bouncy!

You'll need all-purpose flour, eggs, whole milk, and a few other ingredients to make this easy recipe.

What You'll Need

Set up three separate bowls: flour and salt mixture, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.

Prepare the Coating

Add the cheese curds into the egg mixture first and then the flour mixture. Dip them back into the egg and then into the breadcrumbs.

Dip the Curds

Place them onto a wire baking rack on a baking sheet. Then place in the freezer so they can firm up.

Freeze the Curds

Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a medium dutch oven skillet to 370 degrees F.

Heat the Oil

Fry the cheese curds until golden brown. Then remove and allow to cool on a paper towel-lined plate.

Fry the Curds

Serve hot, with marinara or your favorite sauce for dipping.

Enjoy!
