Applesauce Bread

Applesauce Bread is a simple and spicy quick bread is made with applesauce, sugar, butter, and warm spices. Prep time is just five minutes and after baking in the oven your whole house will smell like fall.

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and spray a 9x5-inch loaf pan with nonstick spray and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, beat together the eggs, applesauce, sugars, melted butter, and orange zest.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  • Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and top with coarse sugar.
  • Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick comes clean when inserted into the center of the loaf. Allow to cool in the pan.
  • Run a paring knife around the edge of the loaf and then flip it over to release the loaf.

Notes

Recipe Notes:
2½ teaspoons of apple pie spice may be used in place of the other spices in the recipe.
Orange zest may be omitted or substitute for lemon zest.
