Red Velvet Hot Cocoa

This red velvet hot cocoa is one of my newest favorites. The key is the red velvet syrup and whipped topping – yum!

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 10 oz semi-sweet baking chocolate coarsely chopped
  • 2 tsp. Red Food Color
  • 1 tsp. Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp. red velvet syrup


  • Place milk and granulated sugar in medium saucepan on medium heat.
  • Bring to simmer, stirring to dissolve sugar.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stir in chocolate chips with wire whisk until melted.
  • Stir in food color, syrup and vanilla.
  • Pour into serving cups.
  • Top with whip cream.
  • Garnish with Christmas sprinkles.
