Cookies are a must during the Holidays. Fresh, warm, and filled with all types of flavor. And, we all love and new recipes to share with friends and family. This Chocolate Christmas Cookies Recipe is so delicious and perfect for any occasion.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
Using an electric mixer beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. About 2-3 minutes. Add in your egg and vanilla, beat again.
In a separate bowl combine flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add this mixture to the butter mixture in three sections, mixing after each one. Do this until a dough forms.
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap, forming a circle to make it easier to roll out. Chill in the fridge for 1 hour or in the freezer for 15 minutes.
When ready to roll out dust your countertop with cocoa powder. You can use flour as well, but cocoa powder adds flavor! Roll out the dough about ½ inch thick. Cut out desired shapes and place them on the cookie sheet. Place the cookie sheet in the freezer for 10 minutes to better firm up the dough before baking.
Bake for 8- 10 minutes. Allow cookies to cool on the cooling rack until no longer warm.
For the glaze: Mix together all three glaze ingredients. This is a thicker glaze. Frost cookies and sprinkle Christmas/ desired sprinkles!
Notes
NOTE: For the glaze if you prefer a thinner glaze just add more milk.
