Apple Crumble Pie with Chocolate Ganache

Crumble Pie anyone? This Apple Crumble Pie is so good and even better with its sweet chocolatey ganache that's on top! You can enjoy crunchy, crumbly, sweet, soft, and savory in one bite!

Equipment

  • Disposable piping bag

Ingredients

Crust:

  • 1- store-bought pie crust

Filling:

  • 5 Gala apples large
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 ⁄4 C all-purpose flour leveled
  • 1 ⁄4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 ⁄4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 1 ⁄2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 ⁄2 C sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Topping:

  • 1 ⁄2 C light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 ⁄4 C all-purpose flour leveled
  • 3 ⁄4 C chopped walnuts
  • 1 ⁄3 C unsalted butter melted/ slightly cooled

Chocolate Ganache

  • 1 ⁄2 C semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 ⁄4 C heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  • Set pie crust aside.

Filling:

  • Apples: core, peel, and slice in 1⁄4 inch slices. Set aside. *
  • Add sliced apples, lemon juice, flour, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla together in a
  • bowl. Using a rubber spatula stir to combine all ingredients together. Set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Spoon the apple filling in the pie crust. Set aside.

Topping:

  • Add brown sugar, cinnamon, flour, walnuts together in a medium bowl.
  • Using a rubber spatula mix the ingredients together.
  • Using the rubber spatula mix in the butter.
  • Sprinkle the topping over the top of the pie.
  • Place the filled pie on a baking pan.
  • Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
  • Do not remove the pie from the oven but reduce the oven temperature to 375 degrees for
  • another 30-35 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven. Set aside to cool for 3 full hours.

Ganache:

  • Using a small pot, heat the heavy whipping cream until simmering
  • Pour over the chocolate chips in a medium bowl
  • Whisk until smooth and then let sit for 5 minutes
  • Spoon the ganache into a piping bag
  • Cut the tip off and drizzle over the pie
  • Allow the chocolate to harden before serving!
