Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 yellow onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  • Add the olive oil and onion to the pan and sauté until very lightly browned.
  • Spoon in the garlic and cook for another 20 seconds.
  • Add in the rest of the ingredients and simmer, covered, on low for 30 minutes.
