Ingredients

  • 6 Apples Granny Smith is usually the preferred apple
  • 22 ounces Caramel Bits I used 2 11 oz. bags of ‘Krafts Caramel Bits’ as this saves time on unwrapping individual caramels.
  • 10 ounces White chocolate I used the 10 oz. Ghirardelli white vanilla flavored melting wafers – Ghirardelli seems to be one of the better melting chocolates that I have found.
  • 10 ounces Dark chocolate I used the 10 oz. Ghirardelli dark chocolate flavored melting wafers.
  • 8 ounces Toffee I used the Heath’s 8 oz. English Toffee Bits
  • Wooden Apple Sticks These are generally available in the craft store or grocery store.

Instructions

  • Dip the apples in hot water and rub off the shiny wax layer. This will enable the caramel to better coat the apple.
  • Place the sticks into the top of the apples.
  • Melt the caramel in a double broiler or in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds at a time, mixing between, until the caramel is fully melted.
  • Coat the apples in the melted caramel.
  • Prepare a bowl of toffee. Coat the bottom of the apples in the toffee.
  • Place the apples on wax paper and put in the refrigerator to cool for a few minutes.
  • Melt the chocolate of your choice in a double broiler or in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds at a time, mixing between, until the chocolate is fully melted.
  • Drizzle chocolate on the apples and allow them to chill for approximately 30 minutes.
