  • In a medium size mixing bowl, combine powdered sugar, cold milk and vanilla extract. Mix for 30-45 seconds.
  • Add in instant vanilla pudding and mix for 2 minutes until thickened. Then let it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Fold in whipped topping and mix until thoroughly combined.
  • Frosting is ready to use!

Notes

Frosting can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
You can store Cool Whip Frosting in the freezer in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
Add a few drops of gel food coloring to the frosting to get the desired color frosting if you wish.
If the frosting is not stiff enough for you, add a tablespoon of powdered sugar at a time until you get the desired consistency.
This frosting can be used on cupcakes, cakes, or even cookies.
Use any flavor of pudding if you wish to have a different flavor of frosting.
Make sure you set out the cool whip ahead of time before making the frosting recipe. You will want it completely thawed before you start.
Regular cool whip can be used with this recipe. Start with 4 tablespoons of powdered sugar if using a regular cool whip and add more if the frosting needs to be thicker.
