This Apple Butter Margarita is a delicious fall cocktail made with apple butter, tequila, orange liqueur, and fresh lime juice. Finished with a cinnamon sugar rim and warm fall spices, it's an easy drink that's perfect for Thanksgiving or a cozy fall evening.
Combine the sugar and cinnamon on a small plate, mixing until evenly distributed. Run the lime wedge along the outer rim of your glass, then dip into the sugar mixture, rotating the glass.
Fill the glass with crushed ice and set aside.
Add the lime juice, apple butter, tequila, orange liqueur, and ice cubes to a cocktail shaker.
Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds until the shaker feels very cold.
Pour the margarita into the glass, straining if preferred.
Garnish with dried or fresh apple slices, a whole star anise, and a cinnamon stick. Finish with a light grating of star anise over the top of the cocktail.

Notes
Apple butter is thicker than most cocktail ingredients, so it needs a vigorous shake to fully incorporate. Shake for the full 15 to 20 seconds to distribute the apple butter throughout the margarita.
