Butterscotch Sauce

  • In a medium size saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the brown sugar, and salt and stir with a silicone spatula until it’s mixed.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil stirring frequently.
  • Reduce heat to maintain a steady low boil for 2-3 minutes while continuing to stir frequently.
  • Add the cream and return it to a low boil.
  • Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Add the vanilla and salt and stir to combine.
  • Allow it to cool slightly before transferring it to a glass jar. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
  • Store in the refrigerator and rewarm slowly by microwaving the jar for 20-30 seconds at a time, stirring intermittently until heated through. Will save for approximately 2-4 weeks in the refrigerator.
