Spiced Bourbon Cherries
If you like cherries you are going to love making these spiced bourbon cherries. Since they last for a couple months you can make a big batch and save them or give them as gifts. Yum!

- 1 pound sweet bing cherries pitted and stems removed
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp. of nutmeg
- 2 cinnamon stick
- 1 grated skin of an orange
- 1 cup bourbon
Place the cherries in two clean pint-sized mason jars
Set aside.
In a medium saucepan on medium heat add your water, honey, vanilla extract and honey.
Stir until combined.
Add the cinnamon and grated orange.
Stirring occasionally.
You stir until the mixture reaches a simmer.
Reduce heat to a low, and simmer for 10 minutes.
Remove from heat, and strain the mixture into a bowl.
Add in the spiced bourbon, and stir to combine.
Pour the bourbon mixture evenly over the cherries.
Set to the side so it can cool completely to room temperature.
Secure the lids on the mason jars, give them a shake, and refrigerate for at least 3 days before using.
The cherries will last for up to 2-3 months.
