- 6 small tortillas corn or flour
- Olive oil cooking spray as needed
- Coarse salt to taste
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F.
Using a sharp knife or a sharp pizza cutter, slice each tortilla into 4 equal pieces. The tortilla triangles should resemble pizza slices.
Lightly spray each cut tortilla on both sides with olive oil cooking spray. You can also use a pastry brush to brush them with a little oil. Sprinkle the corn tortilla chip pieces with coarse salt.
Arrange the tortilla slices in the air fryer basket. Make sure they are in a single layer and cook them in batches at 400°F for a cooking time of 4-7 minutes. Halfway through the cooking, open the air fryer basket, flip the chips, and add more salt if you like. Continue cooking them until the chips are golden brown and crisp.
Remove the homemade chips from the air fryer basket and allow them to cool on a wire rack for 1-2 minutes to achieve a crisp finish. Enjoy these crispy chips with tortilla soup, pico de gallo, grocery store, or homemade salsa, or any of your favorite dips.
Small Tortillas (Corn or Flour): The choice between corn and flour tortillas is totally up to you. Corn tortillas have a slightly nutty flavor and a firmer texture, while flour tortillas tend to have a softer bite. Corn tortillas or flour can be substituted with whole wheat or multigrain corn tortillas as well as spinach-flavored flour tortillas. I used corn tortillas for this air-fried tortilla chips recipe.
Olive Oil Cooking Spray: Using a little bit of oil or cooking spray helps promote
crispiness during the air frying process. You can also use canola oil or avocado oil
sprays on your flour or yellow corn tortillas.
Coarse Salt: Coarse salt not only enhances the natural flavors of these easy air fryer tortilla chips but also contributes to their overall texture. I used kosher salt, but you can use sea salt or Himalayan salt. If you like spicy chips, a sprinkle of different seasonings like chili powder or cayenne pepper will give your crispy tortilla chips a spicy kick.
