Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Place a potato on a cutting board. Position a chopstick on each side of the potato.
Using a sharp knife, slice the potato into thin, even slices about 1/8 inch apart. The chopsticks will act as a guide to stop your knife from cutting all the way through. Repeat with the remaining potatoes.
Place the sliced potatoes on a baking sheet. Brush them generously with melted butter, making sure to get some butter in between the slices. Sprinkle them with salt and black pepper.
Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes, or until the potatoes are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Baste with more butter halfway through the baking time for extra flavor and crispiness.
Remove the potatoes from the oven and transfer them to a serving platter. Let them cool slightly before serving. Garnish as desired. Enjoy!
