These Rare and Unique Orchids Look Just Like Monkeys

These unique orchids are called “little dragon monkey” which is also known as Dracula simia. The Monkey Orchid is found in the forests of Peru and southeastern Ecuador and we think that these are just so incredibly cool!

There are more than 110 varieties within the Dracula genus, but all of them have a unique look that resemble a monkeys face. This orchid can bloom at any time of the year.. There are over 110 different species of the flower, all of which are found in Mexico, Columbia, Central America, Ecuador and Peru.

🌺🐵Monkey Orchid🌺🐵 Scientific Name : Dracula saulii This #orchid resembles a monkey’s face and hence the name. The #flower is white on the inside with a brown band on the outside. It grows mainly in cold weather. The orchid genus Dracula, abbreviated as Drac in horticultural trade, consists of 118 species native to Mexico, Central America, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

Flower Size 1.25″ [3.2 cm] Found in Peru without locality as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, erect, thinly coriaceous, carinate, narrowly linear, obtuse, narrowing below into the indistinct petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on a horizontal, 4 to 4.2″ [10 to 11 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul, and has a tubular floral bracts. .
