Giving birth to triplets is hard enough as it; however, this Texas mom fought through and conquered COVID-19, and then gave birth to three healthy triplets.

Maggie Sillero

Maggie Sillero is this mom who is an absolute hero. She went to her 28 weeks check-up at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas on May 8 where she had to have a routine COVID-19 test. She found out on Mother’s Day that she had the virus.

And it gets worse: she also found out her husband had the virus and couldn’t even visit her during this time.

The hospital wrote about her on Facebook and said, “While perplexed how she caught the virus since she had been quarantined at home since March 23, as an incredibly kind and selfless person, Sillero’s main concern was everyone but herself. She worried about the health of the triplets, her husband and their 5-year-old son, as well as the nurses and physicians caring for her.”

More Bad News Before the Good

After around a month, on June 4, she had five COVID-19 tests. The last two showed negative. However, more bad news was given. Baby A’s umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck. She had to have a C-section that very day. However, her husband still had not gotten a negative test yet, so he was unable to attend the labor and support her.

Maggie’s mother was able to be there for her along with some virtual support from other family members.

The hospital wrote, “Maggie remembers that at exactly 3:59 p.m., her father called to pray with her, and when it was time for her epidural, a nurse hugged her tightly until it was complete.”

Isabella was born at 4:51 p.m., Nathaniel followed at 4:53 p.m., and Adriel completed the trio at 4:55 p.m.

“The doctors and nurses were amazed by how well Maggie did. She and her babies, who arrived in perfect ABC order at 32 weeks, were healthy, safe, and undeniably resilient” shared the hospital.

The babies are still in the Level II NICU. Maggie gets to visit and be with them every single day.

Maggie shared some advice on her Facebook to encourage other moms during this time. She said, “take their pregnancy day-by-day and don’t let fear of COVID-19 overpower their emotions . . . As a mom, you want control, but right now, you have to accept that you don’t have control of everything. You have to let other people help you and remember you aren’t alone. Look forward to each day and celebrate every small victory.”

What an amazing triumph from this mom who beat COVID-19 and then gave birth to 3 healthy triplets.
