11 Natural Onion Remedies That Will Blow Your Mind
Before you read any further, I want you to know that I realize how potentially wacky these are. I’m in no way telling you that these will definitely work. You’ll have to try them for yourself.
What I do know for sure is that onions are incredibly healthy.
They are absolutely loaded with vitamin C, sulphuric compounds, flavonoids, and phytochemicals.
So, even if you don’t use onions for anything else, use them in your cooking.
1. Onion Cough Syrup
Layer sliced onions and sugar in a jar with a lid. Let the jar sit until it’s a liquid. It’ll take approximately 8 hours, maybe more. Give your kiddo a spoonful as they need it.
Don’t make too much because you have to throw it out after a couple of days.
2. Shorten Your Cold a Bit
Slice red onion, put slices or a half of an onion on the bottoms of your feet and put socks on over them. Wear them to bed and take them off in the morning.
3. Soothe Your Sunburn
Pop a sweet onion in the refrigerator, slice it and put it on the sunburn.
4. Clean the Grill
Heat your grill a bit and then scrub the grates with half an onion, using a fork stuck into it like a handle.

Put onion juice on it and continue to do so until the swelling goes down.

Put a cut onion on the bruise for 15 minutes.
7. Get Rid of Garden Pests
Some bugs truly hate the smell of onion. (Some people do, as well!)
Chop two white onions up as fine as you can. Put them in a gallon container and fill with water. Let it sit all night.
Pour it through a strainer to get rid of the onion and put the water in a spray bottle. Spray the plants to repel pests.
8. Get Some Sore Throat Relief
Put some onion skin in a small jar, add a couple teaspoons of sugar and cover with water.
Let it sit overnight. Drain off the liquid and gargle with it.
9. Help Grow Your Hair.
Put onion juice on your scalp and don’t wash it out for at least 15 to 20 minutes.
10. Hide Gray Hair.
Cover your roots well with onion juice. Leave the juice on your hair for an hour and then shampoo. Do that twice a week.

11. Chest Congestion.
Make a paste by adding some crushed onion and coconut oil. Spread the paste over the chest and cover it with a dish towel. Onions work like a natural antibiotic and strengthen the immune system. The vapors that onion give off also work as an expectorant to loosen the mucus in your chest that causes coughing and discomfort.
Those are all the old-school natural onion remedies that I know of.
