3D Christmas Tree Cookies

These fun 3D Christmas tree cookies are going to be your kids new favorite treat to make. They are like little, mini, edible Christmas trees! Plus, you get to decorate them however you like. So fun!

3D Christmas Tree Cookies

Ingredients

For Cookies:

  • 1 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 C powder sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/2 C flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cream of tarter
  • 3 star cookie cutters 1 large, 1 medium and 1 small
  • cookie sheet fitted with parchment paper

For Icing:

  • 1/2 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/4 C powder sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • piping bag fitted with medium star tip
  • leaf green gel food coloring
  • yellow star sprinkles
  • wilton holly melody christmas sprinkles

Directions

For Cookies:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a standing mixer, combine butter, powder sugar, egg and vanilla and mix on medium speed until combined and fluffy
  3. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and cream of tarter.
  4. Gradually add in the flour to the wet mixture and mix on low speed until combined
  5. Once all the flour has been combined with the wet ingredients, sprinkle some flour onto a cutting board and knead with your hands till everything is combined
  6. Sprinkle flour onto the cutting board and roll out the dough to 2 inches thick
  7. Use the cookie cutters and cut your shapes
  8. Bake in the oven for 7-9 minutes or until slightly golden brown
  9. Place onto a wire rack to cool

For The Icing

  1. In a standing mixer, combine the butter, powder sugar, vanilla and heavy whipping cream and beat on medium speed until smooth stiff peaks form
  2. Add 3 drops of the food coloring and mix until combined
  3. Scoop frosting into piping bag
  4. Take your large star cookie and pipe a circle onto the top of the cookie
  5. Take your medium cookie and pipe a circle onto the top of the cookie
  6. Place your medium cookie onto the top of the large cookie to create the bottom half of the tree
  7. Take your small cookie and pipe the frosting like you would onto a cupcake
  8. Place small cookie onto the medium cookie
  9. In the middle of the top cookie place a star sprinkle
  10. Randomly place two holly leaf sprinkles together and 3 red mini pearl sprinkles to create your holly.
  11. Let cookies set for 30 minutes for frosting to set before enjoying your 3D Christmas Tree Cookies!
