Grinch Punch is a fun family drink to make with the kids at Christmas. All you need is four ingredients and about 2 minutes and you’re all set for a new holiday treat. It’s a cross between a drink and a dessert.
Christmas traditions are so important to our family, and making this each year is something we look forward to. Looking for even more green, Grinch fun? You could also make Grinch Cookies, Grinch Pretzels and Grinch Popcorn. So many festive ways to celebrate our favorite holiday villain.
Grinch Punch
I love hosting themed holiday movie parties and this one is perfect for watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The kids and I like to grab a big bowl of popcorn and pair it with a candy that matches the movie we’re watching in some way. It can be the color or the theme. For instance, for the Grinch, we would probably top it with green and red M&Ms. (Which just so happen to be super easy to find in December.)
Ingredients You’ll Need
- Lime Sherbet. Did you sherbet is sorbet but with cream added? I just found that out and it’s always been one of my favorite treats.
- Green Berry Rush Hawaiian Punch. You’ll find this in the juice section with the usual red and blue punch options.
- Sprite. To save on some sugar intake, you can use Sprite zero.
- Pineapple Juice. Using this adds a really great tropical flavor but I have made this drink without it, so it’s optional if pineapple isn’t your thing.
- Red Sugar Sprinkles. This is just to rim the glass so you can skip if if you need to.
Also, I wanted to share how I did the Grinch Pitcher. I got this Pitcher on Amazon. I purchased Grinch Face Decals on Etsy HERE and added little heart decals to the glasses.
Grinch Punch Recipe
If you’ve ever made a punch recipe before, this will look pretty familiar. The basics are all here: soda, juice and ice cream. Once you’ve made it once or twice, you’ll remember it forever.
- Scoop. Dish out the sherbet into a punch bowl or large pitcher. This doesn’t have to be perfectly uniform or pretty.
- Pour. Then, pour half of your juices and half of your Sprite over the sherbet.
- Rim. If you want to rim your glass, just pour some sugar in a dish, dip your glass into some water then dip into the sugar. Feel free to skip this step if you’d like.
Note: This recipe doesn’t keep so drink up and just toss what you don’t use.

That’s great Kandy! Thank you!
Great punch! What is the size of grinch face is on your pitcher?
Thanks Melissa! I’m pretty sure we used the 5″ sticker.
Thank you!!
I was planning to make this for an office party. I could not find lime sherbet or the green Hawaiian Punch. I am going with vanilla ice cream, limeade and a Wylers Green Tropical Island Punch. hope it turns out.
Hi Nancy. Those seem like great substitutions. Let us know how it turns out.
Question – is there anything that can be used to replace the sherbet? I can’t find any at the local stores, and I don’t have an ice cream maker to make any. Any suggestions?
Hi Kristi. Sherbet really is the best, but I think plain vanilla ice cream will give the closest results for you. The Sprite, Hawaiian Punch and pineapple juice will give it the kick it needs.
I made the Grinch punch and the Christmas punch last year and overall the Grinch punch was a big hit so this year I will definitely be making the Grinch punch

Glad to hear it Mattie. Thank you!
I haven’t tried it gonna try it on Christmas but I got a 90 oz pitcher I saw yours is 100 oz will mine for for that recipe
Hi Savannah. Yes, that will work fine!
Can I pre mix all the juices/soda and then pour over the sherbet when I am ready to serve? THANK S
Hi Molly. Yes, you can absolutely do that.
add sparkling wine.
Great idea!
Could I get away with just lime sherbert and sprite? Or is the tropical punch a necessary ingredient?
Hi Tirzah. Yes you could do that. The punch would still have a great look and flavor.
How early before serving should you put this together?
Hi Melissa. I wouldn’t make this any more than 2 hours in advance.
This sounds like it would be really good but is part of the recipe missing? Is the remaining punch, soda and juice added after step 4?
Hi Ronee. No, only half is used like the recipe states. If you want to double the recipe you can use the whole bottles with 1 gallon of sherbet.
Do, what do you do with the other half of the liquids? Do you add them to the punch once the sherbet has “melted” into the 1st half of liquids?? Sounds delicious!!
Hi Dawn. Only half of the liquids are used. If you want to double the recipe you can use the full amounts of the bottles with 1 gallon of sherbet.
Made this last year for our big family Christmas party. Unfortunately, I had work around the time the party would start; so I went to our venue early and made it there. Some of the family was wary about the drink, but I got a stamp of approval from the “intended” audience and after I left and came back to a still at full-swing party, the drink as almost gone. Needless to say, it was a hit!
Thanks Erica!
We love this punch so fun. We even used it for Easter with pink, purple and yellow sugar for the glades and a small squirt of whipped topping for a bunny tail and called it bunny punch.
I can’t really do anything my phones kind of blocked I can’t make any comments but I’m still prime doing it and it’s pretty good. I made that before with it with that punch is put ice cream in 7-Up, lime, sherbet, and 7-Up, same thing as an app for parties I used to do that.
This punch is so good. I had this punch for 3rd graders and they loved it! It was for a Christmas party.
