My boys loved the Mr. Potato Head Pancakes we made awhile back so we decided to make this Mr. Potato Head Watermelon yesterday with fruit that we had in the kitchen. They absolutely loved him and he was pretty easy to make! Kids will love helping make this and it might get your picky eaters to try some new and different fruits! This would also be really cute for a kids party!

I was bad about taking pictures with this one, but will try to explain in good detail. You can click on the Yodamelon link below for instructions on how to cut out the watermelon from the back.

What You’ll Need

1 Large Watermelon
Dark Grapes
Blueberries
1 Strawberry
Honeydew Melon
1 Dark Red Apple
1 Clementine (or Orange)
Toothpicks

How To Make A Mr. Potato Head Watermelon

First wash the watermelon really well because you are adding fruit to the outside. Then cut a small amount from the bottom of the watermelon with a knife so the watermelon will stand up straight without rolling over. Next, cut the apple in half for the feet. Cut a clementine in half and placed those on the top sides with toothpicks. Attach a strawberry nose with a toothpick.

Cut several dark grapes and blueberries in half then place the blueberries on top for the hat and place the dark grape halves around the edges of the hat. With toothpick, place grape halves under the nose for his mustache. Cut two grape halves in half again for the eye brows. Use a honeydew melon half and cut the ends off to make the eyes. Use grape halves for the pupils. You can cut those with kitchen scissors. Then cut slices from the honeydew half. Cut off the peel and use that to make the arms. Secure them with toothpicks into the sides of the melon. Use extra peel to cut out the hands as well. Do the same for the teeth.

This was so much fun to make and such a fun and healthy treat to make with or for the kids!
