The name of this recipe, Salted Caramel Apple Butter, tells you everything you need to know about it. This will be your new fave.

As far as I’m concerned, you can’t have too many recipes that have apples as the main ingredient. Not kidding. If you gave me 10 bushels of apples, I’d find a way to use every single one. (Except the ones with worm holes!)

I’d definitely make Snickers Apple Salad. Have you tried it? If not, you must. It’s easy and such a good, quick recipe for a get-together. For sure Mason Jar Lid Mini Apple Pies is another. They’re so cute, it’s almost ridiculous!

Salted Caramel Apple Butter

I’m always surprised at how many people have never tried apple butter. Have you? If not, you don’t know what you’re missing.

Think of it as applesauce that’s thick and rich and smooth and super flavorful.

We use regular apple butter on toast and biscuits. But this particular recipe? I have to say that Salted Caramel Apple Butter kicks it up a notch. Maybe 10 notches, now that I think of it.

Serving Salted Caramel Apple Butter

The next time you’re planning any sort of dessert bar, a few pretty glass containers of this stuff and you open up a whole new way to think about dessert.

I suggest chunks of plain pound cake to spread it on. You might even want to toast some.

You should also try some plain scones, and what about some churros? Oh my gosh, y’all. Doesn’t that sound amazing?

This is also great to put in Jars for gifts. We used 4 oz glass jars with lids.

The caramel sauce is everything.

Wait until you taste this! Warm, homemade caramel sauce is (in my opinion) the twist in this recipe that makes it exceptionally good.

Made with maple syrup, brown sugar, and unsalted butter, it makes these little pots of apple gold good to the last spoonful.

Notes…

I am sure this apple butter can easily be preserved and canned using the hot water bath method, though I have no tried this yet myself.

Might have missed it, but how much does this recipe yield, and any apples other than gala recommended.. thinking maybe Granny Smith?????

        1. I am sure this apple butter can easily be preserved and canned using the hot water bath method, though I have no tried this yet myself.
Use the tutorial linked in my post from Ball as a guide.

      2. Do you combine apple sauce and caramel at the end? I assume caramel sauce step 4 should say apple sauce instead of caramel?

      3. How long will this keep refrigerated? And to clarify, once the caramel mix is made, you mix it into the apple mixture?
        Thankyou!

        1. It will stay good in the fridge for about a month. Yes, the caramel and apple mixture combines at the end. I updated the recipe to make sure that is clear. Thanks.

I am confused about mixing the caramel with the apples, at what stage does this happen? Do you make the caramel and add into apples at the end of cooking

        1. You add the caramel mixture to the apple mixture at the end. I updated and made this clear in the directions. Thanks.

      5. Hi Jill.  In the list of ingredients you say cream.  In the recipe you say milk.  Are you meaning heavy cream or something else?  This looks amazing!    Thanks

I made this and it was really delicious. For those wanting to leave out the butter, cream, etc, they add to the end result texture and taste. The cream and butter add just the right amount of creamy, soft texture/taste. This is an exceptional recipe. I’ll be freezing mine just due to dairy products in it. However, don’t think it will last long in my house it’s so delicious!

        2. Dairy products can not be safely home canned. You could safely can the apple butter (safe tested recipe)and then maybe add the Carmel sauce when you open it.

      6. When are the apple butter and caramel sauce mixed together? Are they supposed to be blended together before putting into jars?

        1. I KNEW the nutrition size was wrong….it says 74 oz. 🙂 This sounds awesome!
