My 9 year old’s class is reading a book about a dog at school and wanted me to create some Candy Bar Dog Treats for the kids. We always love to come up with our own original ideas, but I have always wanted to recreate my friend Sandra’s (of Project Denneler) dog treat idea. They are so cute! We changed up just a few things using what we had on hand and these ended up being a huge hit with the kids!
Candy Bar Dog Treats
- Butterfinger Bars (snack size)
- Hershey Kisses
- Chocolate Chips
- Chocolate Jimmies
- Marshmallow Bits
- Black Edible Marker
- Chocolate Cookie Icing
- Heart Sprinkles
Start out by unwrapping your candy bars & kisses. Cut the points off of a hand full of chocolate chips and attach them on the bottom of the candy bar using your icing.
Press your black edible marker on each side of a marshmallow bit. But the tips off and attach them on the Hershey’s kiss for eyes. Make a nose using your marker. Break a heart sprinkle in half and press it under the nose for a tongue.
Cut the tips off of more of the chocolate chips and then cut them into triangle shapes using a knife. Attach them on the top sides of the kiss for ears. Add on a chocolate jimmies sprinkle for the tail using your icing.
Attach the kiss on the front with your icing. You can prop these up until set using your other candy bar bodies that you created.
