They are already easy to make and this recipe showcases them in a pretty way that’s perfect for your next holiday party. What You’ll Need

Here are all of the components needed to prepare and assemble your pigs in a blanket wreath. Exact measurements and more information can be found on the recipe card below.

  • Crescent rolls: Any classic can of refrigerated crescent rolls is great. I like the butter and homestyle flavor variations.
  • Cocktail sausages: You will find packages of these where your grocery store keeps hot dogs.
  • Garlic: I add fresh garlic to the melted butter and brush the mixture on the crescent rolls before and after they are rolled with the cocktail sausages for extra flavor.
  • Butter: I recommend unsalted butter for this recipe because I add salt. However, if you only have salt butter on hand, omit the extra salt.
  • Salt: A little salt enhances the flavors of the pigs in a blanket, making them perfectly savory and delicious.
  • Everything bagel seasoning: I like the depth and texture of everything bagel seasoning. It also ups the presentation of the entire recipe.

How to Make a Pigs in a Blanket Wreath

There are not a lot of steps needed to prepare this holiday appetizer. Most of the time spent is in the oven baking to golden brown perfection! Wrapping the sausages and adding garlic butter and seasoning is a super quick process.

  • Prep the oven and baking sheet. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Make the garlic butter. Combine the garlic, butter, and salt in a small bowl. Microwave it in 15-second intervals until the butter is melted.
  • Unroll and brush the crescents. Unroll and lay out the crescent rolls. Brush them with some of the garlic butter.
  • Slice them into pieces. Cut each piece into 3 long strips with a pizza cutter.
  • Wrap the cocktail sausages. Use one piece and wrap a cocktail sausage. Repeat with the remaining sausages until they have all been wrapped with the crescent rolls.
  • Arrange in a circle. Place them on the pan in a side-by-side circle. Make a second circle inside the first and ensure they are all touching.
  • Brush with butter and add seasoning. Brush the wrapped cocktail sausages with the remaining butter mixture and sprinkle everything bagel seasoning on top.
  • Bake. Put it in the oven and bake it for about 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serve. Tuck pieces of rosemary around the wreath and add a cup of dipping sauce in the center of the wreath. Enjoy!

Serving and Variation Ideas

  • Dip ideas: Homemade or your favorite store-bought dipping sauce would be great to serve with the pigs in a blanket. Some of my favorites are Rotel Dip, Homemade Ranch Dressing, Dijon mustard,  and ketchup.
  • Seasoning: Use simple coarse salt or a cajun blend for a kick instead of everything bagel seasoning. You may use any spices that you enjoy to top the pastry. Experiment with your favorites!
  • Protein: Veggie cocktail sausages or smoked sausage (lil smokies) may be used instead of the classic mini hot dogs. Choose what you enjoy the flavor of the most and it will work great.
  • Arrangement: Switch up the shape for a different occasion! A football for Super Bowl Sunday, or a heart for Valentine’s Day. You can arrange the cocktail sausages in several different shapes to celebrate other holidays.

Proper Storage

Store leftover pigs in a blanket in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. You may freeze them in a resealable bag for up to 2 months.

Reheat them in a 350-degree oven until warm for best results. You may heat them in the microwave but they may become soggy.

  1. 5 stars
This is a beautiful presentation of Pigs in Blankets. I do have some issues with your math. A can of eight crescent rolls each cut into three only gives you 24 pigs. There are over thirty (34 or 35) pigs in this wreath. How many batches did you make? I am compelled to count things and do the math, and this just didn’t work out.

    1. Thanks Rachel. You are correct in your math! We did state in the recipe card notes that you may need to use an additional tube of crescent rolls depending on the size of your wreath, but maybe we need to add that to the recipe post as well. With one tube you will be able to make 24.
