This smoothie recipe is so simple to make and the perfect breakfast for the morning. You can easily turn this recipe into a meal replacement to support your gut health and boost your energy for the day. This is a great meal prep recipe to have in your freezer to grab and go in the morning as well.

Key Ingredients You’ll Need

Bananas: You will want to use frozen bananas. Using frozen bananas will help a ton when it comes to a thick and creamy smoothie. Another ingredient for a thick and creamy smoothie is rolled oats and nut butter.

Cocoa Powder: I prefer using the Hershey brand for the best quality chocolate flavor.

How To Make Chocolate Banana Smoothie

Step 1. Prepare your bananas for 2 hours or overnight before making your smoothie. You will need to make sure they are peeled before freezing. In a blender, add all the ingredients and combine until smooth.

Step 2. In a glass, pour in the blended ingredients and top with chocolate chips before serving. Enjoy!

What Toppings To Put On A Chocolate Banana Smoothie?

There is a ton of different toppings you can enjoy on this smoothie. I love adding nuts, chocolate chips, whipped cream, or fresh fruit. Some great fruits to add on top of this recipe are fresh bananas, strawberries, blueberries, cherries, raspberries, etc.

How To Store A Chocolate Banana Smoothie?

Place the leftovers in a sealed container to store in the fridge for the best storage method. If you want to freeze, I recommend freezing the smoothie in ice cubes, then placing it in a freezer-safe Ziploc bag.

Chocolate Banana Smoothie

Ingredients
  

  • 1 large banana frozen
  • ½ cup milk
  • cup rolled oats
  • 1 ½ Tbsp nut butter
  • 1 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp chocolate chips Mini, Optional for garnish

Instructions

  • Peel and freeze the banana 2 hours before use (or overnight).
  • Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
  • Pour the blended smoothie into your glass for serving. Garnish with chocolate chips, and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftover smoothies in the refrigerator for up to 3 days in a covered container.
* Any milk can be used, whole milk will make for a creamier smoothie. Vegan milk works well too.
*Almond or peanut butter both work great for this recipe!
For a thinner smoothie, add a few extra tablespoons of milk until you reach your desired consistency.
