Why You’ll Love This Dill Pickle Dip Recipe
What makes this one of our favorite dip recipes? Here are a few reasons!
- Ready in 5 minutes. All you need to do is combine the ingredients together, transfer to a bowl, and garnish. It takes less than 5 minutes!
- Only 5 ingredients. Using ranch seasoning really helps to keep the ingredients list nice and short. The only other things you need are cream cheese, pickles (of course!), ham, and green onion.
- LOTS of flavor. The dill pickle flavor in this dip is enhanced by the ranch seasoning as well as the green onion. Every bite is bursting with flavor.
- Great for parties. This dip works for pretty much any occasion, from summer potlucks and picnics to holiday parties. I’ve never been to a party where it wasn’t a hit!

What You’ll Need
This easy pickle dip is made with just 5 ingredients. Scroll down to the recipe card below for measurements.
- Cream cheese – Make sure it’s softened to room temperature before beginning.
- Dry ranch dressing mix – Using Ranch seasoning adds loads of flavor to the dip without needing to add a bunch of seasonings.
- Dill pickles – I like to use small whole dill pickles for this recipe. In a pinch, you could use sliced pickles or spears.
- Ham – Deli sliced ham of your choosing. Have them cut it a bit thicker than normal for more texture if desired.
- Green onion – Green onions add a bit of color and a lighter flavor than red or white onions.
How To Make Dill Pickle Dip
This dip comes together in just a few minutes.
- Combine the ingredients. Mix the cream cheese and ranch until well combined. Stir in the chopped pickles, deli ham, and green onions.
- Serve. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Top with green onions and dill pickles if desired.
Tips & Variations
Here are a few tips & variations for making this easy dill pickle dip.
- Add more dill. For more dill flavor, consider adding some fresh or dried dill weed. The Ranch has some dill flavor but adding dill weed will really amp it up a bit.
- Dice everything small. Be sure to dice the pickles and ham into tiny pieces so that they are evenly distributed throughout the dip.
- Make it vegetarian. For a vegetarian dill pickle dip, simply omit the ham.
- Chill before serving. While technically you can serve this dip immediately, I recommend covering the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerating it for a few hours before serving. This gives the flavors time to meld.
Can I Turn This Dip Into A Cheeseball?
Dill pickle dip can very easily be turned into a cheeseball!
Just make it as directed, but instead of scooping the dip into a serving bowl, place it on a sheet of plastic wrap. Shape the mixture into a ball and wrap the plastic tightly around it. Refrigerate the cheeseball for an hour, then turn it out onto a small plate or platter with crackers and a cheeseball knife.
Dipper Ideas
Wondering what to serve this dip with? Here are some ideas!
- Round butter crackers
- Pita chips

- Chips
- Veggie platter
Proper Storage
Store leftover dill pickle dip in an airtight container (or tightly covered with plastic) in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Awesome dip! I followed the recipe exactly as written, and made sure to chop the pickles (baby dill) and ham very finely. One packet of hidden valley ranch seasoning was exactly 3 tbsp. I will definitely make this again!
Thanks KS!
Too dill pickle-y for me and I only put in half a cup. I think it would be OK if I used less than that but don’t think I would make it again.
For me is basically a ham sandwich placed in a dip or in a cheese ball form. That’s what it tastes like to me. This is how I prepare my ham sandwiches exactly like this. I can use it as a spread too
Thanks Tosha!
Thanks that is a winner !
Thanks Barbara!
I have made this several times but use salami instead of ham and add more green onions! Everyone lives it!
Sounds delicious Nancy. Thanks!
Loved this! Have made it several times. I use Hormel Cure 81 diced ham & I use about 4 green onions. Great with Ritz crackers!
Thanks Sandi!
Yummy !
So yummy. A hit everywhere I take it.
Super delicious. If you love or like dill pickles you will love this. I think you would like this if you didn’t like dill pickles. Very yummy!!
Thanks Laura!
This Dill Pickle Dip is to die for! Thanks for sharing
Can this be made dairy free?
Sure, you could use a substitute for the cream cheese. Maybe silken Tofu? Or you could use a bottle of diary free ranch dressing.
I make this during the holidays, my addiction. I use Buddig beef (chopped fine) instead of ham, no ranch, well drained dill pickle relish, and 1/8 tsp.seasoned salt. Works great.
thank you for this recipe!!! I have made this MULTIPLE times. My guy loves it!! He even had me make it for a party at his friend’s house. The only change I made was to add 1/3 to 1/2 cup of sour cream to balance the saltiness from the ranch powder and make it more of a dip than a spread.
I made the dill pickle dip & put it on ritz crackers. It was easy& so good. Thanks
Love love recipes.
I’m no cook but I def could make this recipe! Finally something for me.
Hi! Sounds good but I am going to omit the dill pickles and use bread and butter pickles instead.
This sounds so good and easy to whip up!
Instead of chopping pickles could you use a jar of dill pickle relish.
I was wondering if they made dill pickle relish….thanks for commenting. Â It sure sounds good
The texture would be very different, since relish is so finely minced. The flavor would be quite different as well, because relish has other ingredients added to it such as red peppers.
I’m sure you could use dill pickle relish.
I’m going to make this using dill pickle relish. Cuts down on the prep. We have it here in 8 oz jars. I keep it for tuna and potato salad. We don’t like sweet pickles.
