Recipe Ingredients

It only takes 6 ingredients to make this delicious party dip!

  • Panko breadcrumbs: Topping this dip with toasted panko adds the crispy texture and crunch you get from fried pickle chips.
  • Butter: You can use salted or unsalted butter. This is to mix with the breadcrumbs so they get golden brown.
  • Cream cheese: The creamy and tangy flavor of the cream cheese pairs great with the ranch flavor. Allow it to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to soften so it combines well with the other ingredients.
  • Sour cream: I like adding sour cream because it isn’t as thick as cream cheese so it helps to make the pickle dip smooth.
  • Pickles and pickle juice: I use chopped pickles and pickle juice in this recipe. The addition of the pickle juice thins out the dip and reinforces the dill pickle flavor.
  • Ranch dressing mix seasoning: This is my favorite way to add ranch flavor to dips and other foods!

How to Make Fried Pickle Dip

Here are all of the steps needed to make a successful fried pickle dip. It is the best recipe I’ve ever tried!

  • Melt the butter. Add the butter to a small skillet over medium heat to melt it.
  • Add breadcrumbs and toast them. Stir in the panko until coated in the butter. Continue to stir until the breadcrumbs become golden brown. Remove it from the heat and set it aside.
  • Combine the other ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, add cream cheese, sour cream, pickle juice, and ranch seasoning. Beat with an electric hand mixer until combined and smooth.
  • Add the chopped pickles. Stir the chopped pickles into the ranch dip.
  • Top with panko. Sprinkle the toasted breadcrumbs on top.
  • Serve. Garnish with fresh dill if you like and enjoy with your favorite dippers!

Tips and Variations

  • Make it spicy. Try this with spicy pickles or add red pepper flakes. You can even add a splash of hot sauce for heat, too!
  • Try sweet. Use a sweet pickle like gherkins or bread and butter. It tastes so good with the ranch seasoning.
  • Add cheese and bacon. Load up this dip and add your favorite shredded cheese (like white cheddar or Monterey Jack) and crumbled bacon.
  • Make it ahead. Make this dip the night before a party and add the toasted panko breadcrumbs before serving.
  • Variation. If you want to make another version, give our popular dill pickle dip a try with the addition of ham.
