Grinch Punch

I love hosting themed holiday movie parties and this one is perfect for watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The kids and I like to grab a big bowl of popcorn and pair it with a candy that matches the movie we’re watching in some way. It can be the color or the theme. For instance, for the Grinch, we would probably top it with green and red M&Ms. (Which just so happen to be super easy to find in December.)

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Lime Sherbet. Did you sherbet is sorbet but with cream added? I just found that out and it’s always been one of my favorite treats.
  • Green Berry Rush Hawaiian Punch. You’ll find this in the juice section with the usual red and blue punch options.
  • Sprite. To save on some sugar intake, you can use Sprite zero.
  • Pineapple Juice. Using this adds a really great tropical flavor but I have made this drink without it, so it’s optional if pineapple isn’t your thing.
  • Red Sugar Sprinkles. This is just to rim the glass so you can skip if if you need to.

Also, I wanted to share how I did the Grinch Pitcher. I got this Pitcher on Amazon. I purchased Grinch Face Decals on Etsy HERE and added little heart decals to the glasses.

Grinch Punch Recipe

If you’ve ever made a punch recipe before, this will look pretty familiar. The basics are all here: soda, juice and ice cream. Once you’ve made it once or twice, you’ll remember it forever.

  1. Scoop. Dish out the sherbet into a punch bowl or large pitcher. This doesn’t have to be perfectly uniform or pretty.
  2. Pour. Then, pour half of your juices and half of your Sprite over the sherbet.
  3. Rim. If you want to rim your glass, just pour some sugar in a dish, dip your glass into some water then dip into the sugar. Feel free to skip this step if you’d like.

Note: This recipe doesn’t keep so drink up and just toss what you don’t use.

I mae this every Christmas Eve for my entire family. We have a Christmas Eve party in the evening with lots of food and I’m always in charge of making the Grinch punch! Everyone loves it especially the kids. I usually have to swap the lime sherbet for vanilla ice cream since I can never find it in my area, though still tasty!

      Thanks Ashley!

I make this every year and it’s a great idea and it’s a really good

    1. Jill says:

      Thanks Tammy!

  3. Jim says:

Why does the recipe say to only use one half the sprite and pineapple juice called for in the recipe? 2l bottle of sprite and 46oz can of pineapple juice and only use one-half of each? Confused

    1. Jill says:

Hi Jim. Those amounts are what is needed for the 1/2 gallon of sherbet. If you want to double the recipe you would need 2 containers of sherbet to use the full amount of the Sprite and pineapple juice.

I’m just curious if this drink can be made in the ninja slushie machine. I just got one a few weeks ago and my daughter wants me to try this but I am unsure of the ingredients going into the machine itself. I know the ice cream obviously won’t but dk about the rest?

I’ve been making this for the last 3 Christmas’, and its been a huge hit everytime. The issue is finding Lime sherbet. For 2 years I made my own and last year I ended up ordering the ice cups (94 in a pack) for $70. Is there an easier way to do this or do you recommend a place that sells to the West Coast in the Valley of California?

    1. Jill says:

Thanks Erika! That’s a bummer you can’t find the lime sherbet there. I really don’t know what to suggest other than trying different stores. I know Mayfield makes it and I think Ralphs carries it?

    2. Barbara says:

Hi Erika – Last year my daughter posted a video of me complaining about not being able to find lime sherbet at the grocery stores. Not only did the video go viral but it caught the attention of a buyer for Kroger. She messaged my daughter to say that she promised to have in the stores for 2025 XMas. Foods Co (my area Kroger) advertised “new item” lime sherbet. I purchased 2!

What if you can’t find the green Hawaiian punch

    1. Jill says:

Hi Ashley. It may be hard to find in some areas. I would try mixing green Kool Aid with pineapple juice.

  7. Mary Beth Mathews says:

This is my 3rd year making Grinch punch. I found the grinch face stickers on etsy. My grandkids love it!

  8. Alisha Thomson says:

Has anybody tried this without lime sorbet or ice cream ? I’m not putting it in a bowl. I’m putting it into a decanter, so I don’t know if it will go through the spout if I use lime sorbet or ice cream. Thanks so much!

    Just with the juices?

    1. Mary Beth Mathews says:

I make mine in the Grinch pitcher. I just use small scoops of the sherbet and mix it right in the pitcher.

  9. Melissa R Conner says:

I have a party at school and won’t have time to sugar my cups. Can I do this the night before and wrap them in a pan with saran wrap? Then just unwrap to pour in drinks?

    1. Jill says:

Hi Melissa. I think you’ll be fine doing that. You may want to use a simple syrup or pineapple juice to dip the cups in instead of water as it should stick better for longer.

  10. Amy says:

I know this should be super simple…but I am really confused by the instructions.
I selected the “2X” to double the recipe and it lists these ingredients:
    2 half gallon lime sherbet
    ▢6 liter sprite
▢2 gallon Green Berry Rush Hawaiian Punch
▢2 can pineapple juice (46 oz. can)
    ▢Red Sugar Sprinkles optional
But then instructions say to only use half…why would I not just buy half the amount of juice/soda? (1 can or bottle instead of 2) Is there something else I’m missing to use the rest of it?

    1. Jill says:

Hi Amy. You are correct. Sorry about that! The 2X feature doesn’t always work as intended when there are certain steps that it doesn’t calculate correctly.
