Marvin the Martian Watermelon

I put a watermelon in our cart at the grocery store & asked my boys what we could make out of it. We love making fun creations with watermelon & have made a ton of them. My 10 year old suggested Marvin the Martian & I thought that was a fantastic idea! So…here he is! We had so much fun making this & it’s so easy to do!

Marvin the Martian Watermelon

1 Watermelon (any size)
Dark Grapes
Sliced Pineapple
Toothpicks

Start out by cutting a small piece from the bottom of your watermelon so it will stand up straight. Cut that piece in half & cut around the edges to make the sides of the helmet. Cut a strip on the top & then pull it off. Secure it back on with toothpicks so it’s sticking out. Cut the dark grapes in half & press on the front. Cut a piece off of the back of the watermelon & then cut that piece in half. Cut the watermelon off so the white part is showing. Then cut around the edges to look like eyes. Use toothpicks to press the eyes on the front. We cut a dark grape in half for the pupils.

We pressed in a skewer for the top & attached a watermelon scrap piece on top. Lay pineapple slices on top. Here is a side view….
