Ingredients You’ll Need
- Jalapeños – Use large ones and remove the seeds and ribs for the best tasting poppers and less spice.
- Cream cheese– This is the main ingredient in the filling of jalapeño poppers.
- Seasoning– I like to use garlic powder, salt and pepper
- Green onion– You can use regular onions but the flavor is much more intense and takes away from the poppers, in my opinion.
- Shredded Colby Jack cheese – You can also use sharp cheddar cheese instead.
- Bacon– Everything is better with bacon, including jalapeño poppers.
How to Make Jalapeño Poppers
- Cut the jalapeños in half and remove the seeds and ribs.
- Place the peppers in the basket and drizzle them with a little of olive oil.
- Then cook for 4 minutes. Let cool until you are able to handle them.
- Place the jalapenos upside down on paper towel to drain any excess liquid or oil.
- In a medium bowl mix cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper until smooth.
- Next, add in the shredded cheese, bacon, seasoning and the green onions.
- Cook in the air fryer for 5 minutes.
How Long To Cook Jalapeño Poppers
In Air Fryer- If you are frying your poppers in the air fryer you will fry them 8-10 minutes total at 400 degrees. Air frying them for approximately 4 minutes before filling them will soften the peppers. Then fill the peppers and fry for an additional 5 minutes.
In The Oven- If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake these jalapeño poppers in the oven. Place the poppers on a baking pan and bake at 400 degrees for 18-22 minutes or until cheese is melted and the peppers are soft.
How to Store Leftovers
These poppers are best served fresh but you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can also store them in a freezer bag in the freezer.
How to Reheat Jalapeño Poppers in the Air Fryer
To reheat these poppers, simply place them in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes or until heated through. You can also reheat jalapeño poppers in the microwave.
