If you haven’t seen them yet, you’re going to love these Viral TikTok Air Fryer Banana Donut Holes! The donuts themselves are only two ingredients, but you can coat them in cinnamon and sugar or a banana glaze. A quick and easy snack that’s absolutely delicious!

We love donut holes. They’re just so fun and bite-sized. I’ve made many flavors before, from apple cider to strawberry to lemon, so when I saw these banana donut holes going viral on TikTok I had to try them immediately. And as soon as I did…I understood exactly why they went viral! They’re so good.
Why These Banana Donut Holes Went Viral
So what made these donut holes so popular? Here are a few things!
- Only 2 ingredients. Yup, that’s it! Pancake mix and bananas are the only ingredients in this recipe. There is an option to add either a cinnamon sugar topping or banana glaze, both of which just add 2 additional ingredients.
- Quick & easy. It takes about 15 minutes to make these banana donut holes. They’re the perfect thing to whip up on a whim.
- Yummy banana flavor. A single ripe banana adds lots of flavor to these donut holes. It’s not overpowering but similar to the banana flavor in banana bread or muffins. Yum!
Recipe Ingredients
Yes, there are really just 2 ingredients! Scroll down to the recipe card below for the exact measurements.
- Pancake mix – Any plain pancake mix will work for these donut holes. It’s the secret that keeps them so quick and easy!
- Banana – Be sure to use a ripe banana. Some brown spots are perfectly fine.
- Toppings – It’s so fun to customize this recipe with toppings. My go-to’s are cinnamon sugar and a banana glaze. I’ve included the instructions for both toppings below.
How To Make Banana Donut Holes
Donut holes have never been this easy to make!
- Combine the ingredients. Mash the banana with a large fork. Stir in the pancake mix until large clumps form. Knead the ingredients together with your hands until the dough comes together.
- Shape the dough. Shape the mixture into 1 tablespoon sized balls, about 1 inch round.
- Air fryer. Spray the air fryer with cooking spray. Place the dough balls in the basket about an inch apart. Air fry for 7 minutes at 350 degrees.
- Enjoy. Eat the banana donut holes plain or add one of the toppings as directed below. Enjoy warm.
- Make the cinnamon sugar topping. Combine the white sugar and cinnamon sugar in a small bowl. Spray the donut holes with cooking spray then roll in the cinnamon sugar. Repeat a few times as desired.
- Make the banana glaze. Mash a small ripe banana with a fork. Stir in the powdered sugar. Drop the donut holes in the glaze, making sugar to coat them fully. Place on parchment paper or a plate.
Tips & Tricks
Here are a few things helpful to keep in mind when making this recipe.
- Wear gloves. If desired, you can wear gloves while kneading the dough. Just spray them with non-stick cooking spray to prevent the dough from sticking. If I don’t wear gloves, I’ll spray my hands too.
- Make them sweeter. If you want a bit more flavor or sweetness, you can add a bit of vanilla and sugar to your mixture before making the dough.
- Adjust the cooking time. If you make the dough balls bigger or smaller, this will adjust the cooking time, just as a heads up. Reduce or increase the time as needed.
- Adjust the texture. These banana donut holes will be a little harder on the outside and that’s normal! If the donut holes come out dense, it means too much pancake mix was used. In your future attempts, try adding a bit more banana or less pancake mix to fix the issue.
Proper Storage
These banana donut holes are best when eaten immediately. If you would like to store them, do not coat them in the banana glaze as it will make them gooey. To store, place in an airtight container, in the pantry, for up to 4 days.
Banana Donut Holes
Ingredients
- 1 ¾ cup Pancake Mix
- 1 Large Ripe Banana
Optional for Toppings:
- ¼ cup White Granulated Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- ½ cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 Small Ripe Banana
Instructions
- Peel the large banana and add it to a medium mixing bowl. Thoroughly smash the banana using a fork.
- Add the pancake mix to the bowl and stir until the ingredients start to clump together in large clumps.
- Using rubber gloves, if desired, spray nonstick spray on hands (or gloves) and start to knead the ingredients together. Don’t overmix. Knead and mix with your hands until the dough all comes together. It will be a little sticky, this is perfectly fine.
- Roll the dough into 1 tablespoon sized balls (about 1 inch), making sure to keep your hands or gloves well-greased.
- Spray your air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray and place as many of the dough balls as you can in the air fryer basket, spacing them about 1 inch apart as they will expand. I usually fit about 6 at a time in my 2-quart air fryer.
- Air fry for 7 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Carefully remove from the basket and repeat until all the dough has been used.
- Coat the donut holes in a topping or eat immediately.
Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
- If choosing to coat your donut holes in cinnamon and sugar, simply combine ¼ cup white granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon in a small bowl. Stir well.
- Spray the donut holes with nonstick cooking spray right before rolling them thoroughly in the cinnamon and sugar mixture. I do a couple at a time. Enjoy!
Banana Glaze:
- If you’re choosing to coat your donut holes in the banana glaze, add a small banana to a small bowl and mash thoroughly using a fork.
- Add the powdered sugar to the banana and stir until fully combined.
- Drop the donut holes in the glaze and fully coat them before scooping them out with a fork. Rest on parchment paper or a plate. Enjoy!
