This Christmas Snack Mix (also referred to as Christmas White Trash Mix) is a favorite for the Holidays and takes just 10-minutes to make. Chex cereal, Bugles, pretzels and M&M’s are covered in white chocolate to make the most delicious sweet and salty snack!

Growing up, my favorite holiday treats were Muddy Buddies and Rolo Turtles. Both snacks are incredibly easy and so addicting, but I wanted a more colorful and festive Holiday snack. So, I came up with this white chocolate covered Chex mix several years ago and it’s been a favorite ever since! Others call this snack mix “Christmas white trash”. Regardless of what you call it, this stuff is fantastic!
I have never met anyone that doesn’t absolutely love this Christmas snack mix. Kids and adults love this recipe and it couldn’t be any easier to make. My kids not only love snacking on this throughout the Holidays, but they also love helping me make it. We love to add this mix to festive bags and give them out to friends for Christmas.
Why You’ll Love This Christmas White Trash Snack Mix
- Quick and easy. Ready in 10-minutes and no baking required!
- Large batch. This makes 15-20 servings. Perfect for holiday gatherings or gift bags.
- Customizable. Swap cereals, mix-ins or chocolate based on preference.
- Make ahead. This Christmas Chex mix stores well for several days so you can prepare in advance.
Ingredients Needed
All you need is 6-ingredients for this recipe. Any of these can be easily customized to your preference (see notes below).
- Cereal – I prefer Rice Chex cereal, but you can also use Wheat Chex.
- Chocolate – White chocolate chips.
- Bugles – These cone shaped corn chips are my favorite addition to this Holiday snack mix.
- Pretzels – Mini pretzels or break larger pretzels into pieces.
- Candies – Holiday M&M’s and Christmas sprinkles.

How To Make This Christmas Snack Mix
This Holiday snack comes together in just 10 minutes (get the full amounts in the recipe card below).
- Add the cereal, pretzels, Bugles and M&Ms to a large bowl and mix.
- Melt the white chocolate, then pour it over the mix until everything is coated.
- Spread the mixture onto a prepared baking sheet and allow to set.

Variations
Swap out the cereal. Any cereal can be substituted or you could even use some of the flavored Chex cereal like cinnamon or honey nut.
Mix-in ideas. Add nuts (either peanuts, almonds, pecans or walnuts), mini marshmallows, dried fruit, crushed candy canes or different types of cereal such as Cheerios, Lucky Charms, Kix, etc.
Chocolate. You can use white almond bark instead of white chocolate if you prefer. You will want to add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil to it, to help it melt evenly. Melt in the microwave in 20 second intervals, until melted and smooth.
Change your Chex mix to any holiday. You can easily make Easter Chex Mix, Halloween Chex Mix, Valentine’s Day Chex Mix, etc… by swapping out the red and green add-ins for other colors.
Gluten free. Use gluten free pretzels and replace the Bugles with salted peanuts. Rice Chex are already gluten free.

Storing Christmas Chex Mix
- Room temperature – Store for one week in an airtight container or large zipper bag at room temperature.
- Refrigerator – Store in the fridge for two weeks.
- Freezer – This will last for 3 months in the freezer.
