Bunny Butt Cupcakes are the cutest Easter treat and loved by kids (and adults)! Starting with a Funfetti cake mix and decorated with a delicious buttercream and Easter candies.

This adorable bunny butt cupcake recipe is perfect for Easter. The grass is super-easy to pipe and the little frosting butts are easier than you might think! I chose a Funfetti cupcake base for these Bunny Butt Cupcakes because I like bright specs of color inside of the cake. These look like they hopped right out of a professional bakery, yet so easy to make at home!
We love making bunny butt treats and have created several of these including our Bunny Butt Easter Bark, Bunny Butt Oreos, Bunny Butt Cheesecake and Bunny Butt Cookies!
Why You’ll Love These Bunny Butt Cupcakes
- Party Favorite. These are the cutest cupcakes to serve at Easter parties. Not only do kids love these, but adults adore them as well.
- Versatile. The decorations can easily be modified (we give you some more ideas below) to use whatever you have on hand.
- Quick and Easy. These cute Easter cupcakes will take you about 30 minutes from start to finish.
Ingredients Needed
You’ll start with a cake mix and decorated with common frosting ingredients. The only thing “extra” you’ll need is the candy bunny feet. These are found on-line or sold in most craft stores (like Michaels or even Walmart).
- Funfetti Cake Mix. This will be used for the cupcakes along with a few extra ingredients like eggs and oil.
- Frosting. You will combine unsalted butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy whipping cream to make the frosting.
- Decorations. To make sure this looks like a rabbit butt, I like to use green food coloring, shredded coconut, and mini marshmallows to decorate. I also use royal icing bunny feet transfers to make the feet.

How To Make Bunny Butt Cupcakes
Just a few simple steps and decorating is so easy (and fun)!
- Set the oven to 350 degrees. Follow the instructions on the cake box to make it. Add the prepared batter into a cupcake pan lined with cupcake liners. Place in the oven for 21 minutes to bake. Take it out and allow it to cool while you make the frosting.

- Prepare the Frosting. Add the butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy whipping cream into a standing mixer and combine until stiff with peaks. Separate the frosting into two bowls. Add green food coloring into one of the bowls and combine. Place the green frosting into a piping bag with a star tip and place the white frosting into another piping bag with a round tip.
- Decorate. Using the white frosting, pipe a circle into the center of each cupcake to form a tail. Dip the tail into the shredded coconut. Use the green frosting to make the grass around the tail and place a mini pink marshmallow in the middle. Place a bunny foot on each side of the tail. Serve and enjoy!
Variations
Different Colors. Use any food coloring you prefer to color the white frosting. You can make this bunny light purple, light blue, light yellow, etc. Pink marshmallows are also cute to use for the bunny tail.
Decor. If your kids do not prefer coconut, swap that for edible grass or add green jimmies instead to look like the grass. We like to add candy Robin Eggs on top of some of the cupcakes when displaying for parties. You can also use chocolate frosting and/or chocolate sprinkle jimmies to resemble dirt.
Cake Mix. Use another kind of cake mixes like vanilla or even chocolate cupcakes to look like the bunny is digging in the dirt.
Bunny Feet. If you can not find the candy bunny feet in your area, You can cut large marshmallows in half and decorate the tops using pink frosting.

Storing
- Make-Ahead. If you want to make these ahead of time, you can prepare the cupcakes and store them at in the fridge until you are ready to frost.
- Store. Place the leftover cupcakes in an airtight container for up to 4-5 days. Make sure the container is deep enough that it won’t mess up the frosting.
