Ingredients You Will Need
- Water
- Active Dry Yeast
- Granulate Sugar
- Canola Oil
- Salt
- Bread Flour

How To Make White Bread Recipe
- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and 1/2 teaspoon sugar in 2 1/4 cups of warm water; let stand until bubbles form on the surface. Whisk together remaining 3 tablespoons sugar, salt, and 3 cups flour. Stir canola oil into yeast mixture; pour the yeast mixture into flour mixture and beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, to form a soft dough.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 8-10 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, 1-1/2 to 2 hours.

- Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide dough in half. Shape each into a loaf. Place in 2 greased 9×5-in. loaf pans. Cover and let rise until doubled, 1 to 1-1/2 hours. Whisk the egg and water. Brush the loaves thoroughly with egg mixture.

- Bake at 375° until golden brown Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.

Can You Freeze This Bread?
YES! The frozen slices reheat exceptionally well – just 20 seconds in the microwave is all they need.
Tips:
Substitute honey for the sugar (use the same amount called for).
Melted butter can be substituted for oil.
This will make 2 loaves using a 9×5 loaf pans.

I made this a couple weeks ago, and everyone loved it! In case anyone is interested, I used what I had on hand, all purpose flour and vegetable oil, and the bread came out great. Will try using melted butter for the oil and warm milk for the water next time.

how long to bake, instructions just says till golden brown
Hi Pat. You’ll bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
The recipe doesn’t say when to add the egg
