These Mint Muddy Buddies are made with Chex cereal, chocolate, Andes mints, and M&M’s for a delicious treat that’s perfect for St. Patrick’s Day!

Andes Mint Muddy Buddies (aka Puddy Chow)
Traditional muddy buddies are one of our favorite treats and we love putting unique spins new ways to make them including these mint muddy buddies. Mint and chocolate go so well together and let me warn you, this snack combo is incredibly addicting! You’ll also love how easy this is to make.
Ingredients Needed
All you need is 6-ingredients!
- Cereal: Rice Chex or corn Chex cereal.
- Chocolate: I like to use a mixture of chocolate chips, green candy melts, mint M&M’s, and Andes Mints.
- Powdered Sugar: used for covering the chocolate coated cereal and candies.
How To Make Mint Chocolate Muddy Buddies
Just a few simple steps for this yummy muddy buddy recipe.
- Prepare the chocolate cereal. In a large heat-safe bowl, add the chocolate and melt in the microwave and mix every 15 seconds. Add the cereal to the chocolate and mix to combine. Pour in 1 cup of powdered sugar and combine until coated.
- Prepare the green cereal. Add the green candy melts into a large heat-safe bowl and mix every 10 seconds to melt. Put in 5 cups of the cereal and combine to coat. Put the coated cereal into a large ziplock bag and combine it with 1 cup of powdered sugar. Combine and shake until coated.
- Combine the mixes. Place both coated kinds of cereal into a large ziplock bag and combine with 1 cup of M&M’s and 1 cup of Mints. Place in the fridge once combined and chill for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Variations and Additions
You can alter the recipe by using some of the suggestions below:
- Chocolate – Include any type of chocolate you want like white chocolate chips, dark chocolate, chocolate chunks, etc.
- Additions – Add peanuts or pretzels for a salty twist. Broken thin mint cookies or any mint chocolate cookies would be delicious to include!
How To Store
Storing – Place any leftovers in an airtight container or Ziplock bag for the best storage method. Store the mint puppy chow in a cool area or in the fridge to keep it from melting.

Mint Chocolate Muddy Buddy
Ingredients
- 10 cups Chex cereal
- 6 ounces chocolate chips
- 6 ounces green candy melts
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup mint M&M's
- 1 cup Andes chocolate mints
Instructions
- Melt chocolate chips in a large microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 15 seconds until melted. Pour 5 cups of the cereal squares into the chocolate and stir until completely coated. Add in 1 cup of powdered sugar and mix.
- In another large microwave-safe bowl melt the green candy melts carefully, stirring every 10 seconds. Once melted add 5 cups of the cereal squares and stir. Pour into a big zip lock bag and add 1 cup of powdered sugar, zip up, and shake until everything is coated. You can either do both in a bowl and stir or both in a zip lock bag and shake whichever you like!
- Combine both mixes of the coated squares into one zip lock bag (or divide into two) mix in 1 cup of M&M’s and 1 cup of mints, zip up, and shake until well mixed. Refrigerate for 10 minutes and enjoy!
