Peanut Butter Ball Tips:
- You can use any nut butters for this recipe. Almond butter, cashew butter, etc…
- Make sure the balls are chilled before dipping.
- We love these Chocolate Dipping Tools, but you can always use a fork for dipping. A toothpick will also work. Expect a bit of a mess, but it will work.
- You can melt the chocolate in the microwave in 30- second increments, or over a double boiler.
- You can use chunky peanut butter instead of creamy if you prefer. We also like to add in Rice Krispies sometimes for some texture.
- Add any type of holiday sprinkles, chopped peanuts, sea salt or whatever you prefer. It’s all good!

I see vanilla extract in the picture but don’t see it mentioned
Hi Sam. That was an error in the ingredient pic but you can add a half teaspoon for a little extra flavor.
Where’d the oil go in peanutbutter balls
Hi Andrea. You can add one tablespoon of shortening, coconut oil or butter to the chocolate to help make the consistency smoother and it also gives the chocolate a nice sheen.
I really like using this recipe, I actually use it several times a year. It would only let me leave 4 stars but it’s actually a 5.
Thanks April!
It wouldn’t let me rate this recipe the stars tried twice . Wondering recipe doesn’t show use of the shortening. I read it twice. I’m I missing something. Thanks
Hi Kimberly. While it’s not necessary, you can add one tablespoon of shortening, coconut oil or butter to the chocolate to help make the consistency smoother and it also gives the chocolate a nice sheen.
Thank you
I noticed 1 Tbsp vegetable shortening or coconut oil are listed as an (optional) ingredient but it’s not mentioned in the directions. Am guessing it can be added to the semisweet chocolate chips but it may be helpful and less confusing to at least have it mentioned. Thank you.
I’m getting ready to make some ,I’ll let you know. Thanks for the recipe

Hi Marlene. Yes, these will freeze well in an airtight container. When thawed, the chocolate may discolor somewhat so keep that in mind for presentation.
